He bought his current beach-side house from his long-time friend, Vic Reeves.
In 2005, he was accused of stealing two paintings worth £100 each after they were sent away to auction but didn't arrive at the auction house. The case was dropped two years later due to a lack of evidence. The judge commented that he was surprised that Hogben was held responsible for the incident.
