Stephen Nolan

Biography

Growing up in Belfast (he was born there in 1973), Stephen Nolan's broadcasting idol was Eamonn Holmes; like his hero, Nolan wanted to make broadcasting on radio and television sound effortless, like talking to a friend. He won many listeners on local independent station BCR, and was poached by BBC Radio Ulster in 2003.

He now presents a topical mid-morning programme, the most-heard radio show in Northern Ireland. A relentlessly hard worker, Nolan commutes to Manchester to present a weekend show on Radio 5 Live, and the news-based discussion show Nolan Live for television. And, amongst all this, he still has the time to present some game shows.

Trivia

Stephen Nolan has won seven Radio Association awards, including UK Speech Broadcaster three years in a row.
