Biography
Former Conservative MP for Maidstone who went on to a career as a general media-person-for-hire.
She died on 8 July 2026, aged 78.
Trivia
Although she stood down as an MP at the 2010 general election, she made a brief return to frontline politics by standing (successfully) for the Brexit Party at the 2019 European Parliament election. Her candidacy meant that her appearance on an already-filmed celebrity episode of Tenable could not be aired during the election period, resulting in it being held back for several months and shown at Christmas instead.
Paul Merton has repeatedly described her as the worst guest host of Have I Got News for You, even going so far two months before her death as to describe her attempts at lecturing him as the lowest point of his professional life.
