The BBC have announced that they will not commission any further episodes of Celebrity Mastermind or Blankety Blank, though the former's civilian series will continue. On air since 2002 and 2020, the shows were cancelled as part of a costcutting regime that also put paid to Live at the Apollo; both it and Celebrity Mastermind have a series left to air.
Bill Oddie has died, aged 85. He'll be remembered as one of the Goodies with Tim Brooke-Taylor and Graeme Garden, and a naturalist on Springwatch. In the game show world, he co-devised the radio panel show I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, and hosted Fair Game and History Hunt.
Dermot Murnaghan has died aged 68 with prostate cancer. He is best known as a newsreader who most famously announced the breaking news of Princess Diana's passing. In the game show world, his most well known credit was hosting Eggheads, other credits included the spin-off Are You an Egghead? and the BBC revival of Treasure Hunt.
The new hosts of Strictly Come Dancing are Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and professional dancer Johannes Radebe. The trio replace Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. Other candidates for the job included Rylan Clark-Neal, Ball, and Fleur East, all of whom had hosted It Takes Two.
The BBC has announced a 20 episode run of Big Break, which will air on BBC Two. Paddy McGuinness replaces Jim Davidson as host with Stephen Hendry replacing the late John Virgo as referee. The original aired between 1991 and 2002 and the revival will be produced by Fremantle production company Naked Television.
